Busan to Fukuoka by Ferry.

-Queen Beetle-

🛳️

Hello everyone,

This time I will introduce my experience travelling to Fukuoka by ferry from Busan port.

From Busan port you can travel to Fukuoka,

Tsushima / 대마도 (Hitakatsu port), Shimonoseki and Osaka.

Here is the detailed information:

www.bpfmc.or.kr

As you can see, there are two companies providing transportation services to Fukuoka.

The fastest service is with Queen Bettle, taking only 3hr 40min.

If you find yourself planning your trip at the last minute as I did, the prices aren’t any cheaper than taking a plane. However, if you book in advance and are lucky, you can find tickets as cheap as 40,000 won.

One advantage of taking the ferry instead of a plane is the flexibility in terms of luggage. You can bring almost unlimited amounts of luggage, as they do not check for it.

You only pay extra fees for special or bulky items such as bikes and boxes bigger than 200cm.

I made my reservation through the Queen Beetle site:

Once my booking was confirmed, I received an email with the information below.

It wasn't cheap at all, just because I booked late for the 3.1 holidays. I received the email as it was, but no additional information came with it.

 From Busan Port

We arrived at 8:10 AM at Busan port. Yes, we arrived just on time. Since I did not receive any extra information in my email, I just thought one hour was enough...

The weather was not really good on that day. We left our car at the port parking area.

From here, you have to reach the 3rd floor, where departures are located. Queen Beetle's checking counter is located next to this food court.

Checking starts at 7 AM! That means we were late.

Luckily, we were not the only ones.

Check-in

For check-in, only one person per group is enough; just take all the passports and a copy of your booking information.

They display information about luggage; however, I did not ask about luggage at all.

Boarding time starts at 8:20... So the lady at the check-in counter said it would be better to skip the line to enter immigration and rush!

Nina ferry departing toTsushima Island is boarding almost at the same time, so it's better to arrive earlier to avoid the crowd.

As soon as you enter the ferry, you can find an area with luggage storage.

Also, on the 2nd floor, there are more lockers.

Be aware of this, so take with you what you need during the time on board.

On the second floor is located the bicycle storage area.

I booked standard class, which is located on the first floor.

There is also a snack bar and eating area.

Time to have a seat while departing. Bye, bye Busan.

I hadn't had breakfast, so I was waiting for the restaurant to open.

First, I grabbed a drink from the vending machine.

Everything is already priced in Japanese Yen.

Finally, after opening, many customers rushed to order.

MENU

The menu was very limited, and of course, expensive.

I noticed that the food is frozen and preheated for serving.

Drinks were also a bit limited since next to the Kiosk is located the drinks vending machine.

I ordered the Hakata Wayu set, a pizza, and a beer.

I strongly recommend the pizza; it was very tasty.

But the Hakata Wayu set was too small.

After eating, I realised that only 55 minutes had passed since we departed.

Then a small walk around the ferry.

On the second floor is located business class, more lockers, and a duty-free shop.

It was still raining heavily, and we decided not to access the deck floor.

Instead, I bought an ice cream from the vending machine.

Even though the weather was not that great, we arrived only 10 minutes late to Osaka.

Do not forget to prepare in advance your immigration documents.

We made it!

😎

Then we headed directly to the Hakata Station area by BRT bus.

We departed from the same place as we arrived,

this time the ferry was departing at 3 PM.

The same process as in Busan, one person per group does the check-in.

We started the immigration process almost right away. We were a bit worried about the cooked food we had bought at the nearby convenience store, but there wasn't any problem at all.

Remember that you are taking a rapid ferry during the afternoon, and at that time waves get stronger. If you are sensitive to motion sickness, get medicine in advance or even from Korea.

At the Hakata terminal, we could not find a pharmacy; then also did not think about asking the ferry company staff. Otherwise, like me, you can make use of the emergency bags that are on the seats.

I was super sick on our way back, and I wasn't the only one; the female bathroom was busy during those four hours.

I hope this article is useful when planning your trip to fukuoka by ferry. And,

Wish you a safe travel!
